DAY 1 – Welcome to Pound It Today: Mental Health, Hustle, and Honest Reflection

Hey there, and welcome to the very first entry of the Pound It Today blog.

This space was born out of necessity—my necessity—to make sense of how to show up every day in a world that seems to ask for more, faster, and better, while still trying to protect something fragile and sacred: my mental health.

A Balancing Act I Never Auditioned For

Like many of you, my days are full.  I’m constantly switching between work tasks, personal commitments, family responsibilities, inboxes, calendars, deadlines, dishes, and moments of “Did I already drink that coffee, or was that yesterday?”

At the same time, I’m working hard to stay in touch with myself.  That means checking in emotionally, being aware of stressors before they explode, and finding rituals—however small—that help ground me.  Sometimes it’s a deep breath between back-to-back meetings.  Other times, it’s pushing back a project for the sake of going on a walk or calling a friend.  These aren’t always easy choices.  But they are necessary ones.

Not a Clinician—Just Another Human Trying to Get It Right

Let’s get one thing very clear upfront:
I am not a licensed psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker, or mental health clinician.  I’m not certified in any therapeutic practice and don’t claim to have all the answers.  Yes, I’m always learning.  I often take courses and earn certifications in areas that interest me, but none of that qualifies me to give professional mental health advice.

I’m just someone doing the work—work on myself, at my job, and at home.  I’m sharing my thoughts, ideas, and observations.  Some might resonate.  Some might not.  That’s okay.  My promise is to be honest.  And I ask that you treat everything here as one person’s perspective, not clinical guidance.  If you decide to try anything I share, you do so at your own risk.  Always seek professional help if you’re dealing with something heavy.

This Blog is my Journal—You’re Invited to Peek In

This blog will be a space where I unpack the daily grind:

  • How do you keep up with your job when your brain won’t cooperate?
  • How do you stay present with your loved ones when you feel exhausted?
  • How do you honor your limits without feeling like you’re falling behind?

I’ll write about strategies that have helped me (or not), share what I’m learning, talk through struggles and small victories, and maybe most importantly, remind myself—and you—that progress isn’t linear.

Some days we “Pound It.” Some days, we barely tap it.  And that’s okay.

Let’s Build Something Honest

I’m not here to teach.  I’m here to reflect.  If you’re looking for a perfectly polished influencer pretending to have it all figured out, this ain’t that.  If you want honest, messy, evolving thoughts from someone doing the best they can—well, pull up a chair.

Thank you for being here.  Let’s see where this goes.

Love, Always and Forever,

Mitch and the Team at Pound It Inc.
